While Blackthorne is attractive and talented, his Harry Dresden falls short. In the book, Dresden wears a cloak, a cowboy hat and carries around a staff.
In the series? He actually walks around Chicago with a hockey stick. In the TV series, an ancient staff would be too obvious and weird, and so he opted for a hockey stick.

This was a promising series based on the books by Jim Butcher but as there was only one season we can only ponder on what might have been. I watched it end to end and thought it had quality.
The production values were very good too but there is no more so that's all, folks. Love the Dresden File books and bought then dvds.
If you want a bit of escapism this serious will do it. Paul Blackthorne is Superb as Harry Dresden but the producers have changed pretty much all of the storylines.
My advice, enjoy the show for what it is, but if the idea behind it attracts you buy beg steal or borrow the books to find out just what a brilliant writer Jim Butcher is and enter the real world Of Harry Dresden, it's much more enthralling.
